ABOUT  US

Since 2025, Jehanne de Biolley and the Liu de Biolley family have moved base camp to Belgium. Jehanne has created Maison Liu de Biolley, a contemporary art gallery showcasing unique artists and bold talents.

The gallery is located close to Kanal, just a few meters from Tour & Taxis in Molenbeek-St Jean Brussels.

With their two children, certified artists in their own right, Genghis, Noor, Jehanne and Linian continue to create works that have international appeal; film, fashion & jewellery, design concepts and exhibitions … They combine Western style with Eastern elegance and sensitivity and vice versa.

Travelling extensively throughout the world,  Jehanne eventually settled in Beijing in 1996, where she established Liu+de Biolley Studio with her partner, artist and filmmaker Liu Harrison Linian.

The studio was situated in downtown Beijing, in the ancient Zen Buddhist Temple of Nian Hua Si near HouHai, where the couple also lived and worked for over 15 years—establishing the first Maison Liu de Biolley, the cradle of the artist’s family.

It was in London’s Mayfair that Jehanne de Biolley started her career in 1991 as a gallerist and curator at large, marking the beginning of a journey shaped by art, collecting, and a deep curiosity for cultures beyond her own. Whilst working, Jehanne took Korean History of art & Korean history and culture as part time studies at SOAS to further her expertise, with a particular interest in the silk roads and Korean celadon.

She collected Asian antiques and curated exhibitions, bringing together contemporary artists, architects, musicians and fashion designers whom she invited to contribute to the displays. Her passion for Asian ceramics from different centuries has lead her to put together a number of exhibitions on that subject.

Photography was another enduring passion: she curated exhibitions of 19th-century albumen prints, presented the work of contemporary photographers such as Tessa Traeger and John Stewart, she also exhibited Indian miniatures depicting architectural subjects, jewellery...

From this singular setting, a remarkably eclectic body of work emerged. Among their projects was the creation of the first boutique hotel Duge in central Beijing, the Moroccan Embassy in Beijing as well as a unique office concept for WHO in Beijing, Phnom Penh, and Manila.

Their practice also encompassed ambitious exhibition projects, including Through the Lens of  John Thomson, a photography exhibition that continues to travel to museums around the world and has welcomed more than one million visitors to date. Alongside these, they developed film projects, fashion collections, and fashion shows.

Liu+de Biolley Studio evolved into a multidisciplinary practice spanning the arts, culture, fashion, cinema, design and renovation.

Moving fluidly between disciplines and creative fields, the studio developed projects that attracted significant international attention and were extensively covered by the international press and major publications, including The New York Times and The Financial Times, Inside Asia published by Taschen.

Jehanne shares her journey through the exquisite collections she creates along the way. Hailing from Belgium yet imbued with the splendour of the East, Jehanne de Biolley's creations intertwine European refinement with a deep appreciation for Chinese artistry. Her designs capture the essence of China's rich heritage while resonating with the modern sophistication of Europe and Asia. Her Jewellery and her scented candle evoke imagery of nature, blending timeless elements of beauty with contemporary mystery.

The Double Happiness Scented Candle created by Jehanne can be purchased from Thierry Boutemy shop Brussels and co-branding with Alex Eagle in Alex Eagle shop London.
